What Have I Done?
- Treated thousands of patients—from all different backgrounds– over almost twenty years
- Created jobs in New York City through a small business
- Taught and mentored hundreds of healthcare workers and others who went on to contribute to society
- Worked as an administrator for the federal government and brought others together to create an interventional pain management program– a referral center– for veterans in the Tristate area
- Conducted and published research that advanced the management of spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease, spinal arthritis, nerve-related pain, and traumatic brain injuries
- Helped change how traumatic brain injuries, the hallmark injury of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, have been addressed and managed by the Department of Veterans Affairs
- Conducted and published research on disparities in healthcare (based on ethnicity and socioeconomic status (1998-2009)), disparities in childhood development (where poorer families in rural India assigned scarce resources based on gender (1998-2007)), and potential biases in the medical school admissions processes (based on impairments and disabilities (1998-2004)). The goal of all of this research was to promote fairness and equality
