  • Conducted and published research that advanced the management of spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease, spinal arthritis, nerve-related pain and traumatic brain injuries
  • Helped change how traumatic brain injuries, the hallmark injury of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, have been addressed and managed by the Department of Veterans Affairs
  • Conducted and published research on disparities in healthcare (based on ethnicity and socioeconomic status (1998-2009)), disparities in childhood development (where poorer families in rural India assigned scarce resources based on gender (1998-2007)) and potential biases in the medical school admissions processes (based on impairments and disabilities (1998-2004)). The goal of all of this research was to promote fairness and equality
